Week 10 - —Presentation / Graphics
Graphic type:
I played a lot of games since I was young and pixel art games were so diverse and addicting as well. However, the main reason is also the fact that pixel art game compares to other graphic types is easier to make and can be very attractive.
Pixel art is a form of digital art wherein images are created and edited at the pixel level using graphics editing software. What defines pixel art is its unique visual style, where individual pixels serve as the building blocks that make up the image. The effect is a visual style very similar to that of mosaic art, cross-stitch, and other types of embroidery techniques.
Pixel art, in general, is easier to create compare with others but the process of making the foundation is not easy at all.
Story:
After eating the forbidden fruit and got expelled from heaven, Adam and Eve got separated. Adam decided to go on an adventure to find Eve, the one that symbolizes the colors in Adam’s life. That’s why throughout the game only the scene with Eve in it will contain colors. Adam has to solve puzzles and travel through realms to gather intel on Eve's location to find her. There are 3 main settings in my game: Heaven, Earth, and Hell.
Settings:
Heaven:
This will be the least appear setting in the game as heaven for me personally is not a great area to develop your character.
As a place of deep joy and satisfaction, you’d think presenting that sort of feeling to a player would be a supreme achievement. A desirable one, even. But maybe it’s just too difficult to convey such depth of emotional, spiritual resonance.
Heaven is a place that has no challenges nor enemies, no difficulty or conflict. This doesn’t make for a very compelling gaming experience. Even as developers continue to explore gaming concepts that do not focus on violence, you can understand why some settings such as hell present more excitement than others.
Concept art for heaven:
Earth:
This setting is familiar to almost every one of us but this time I will make this quite different. As the storyline took place in the earliest stage of life so Earth will be very ancient and mysterious.
Concept art:
Hell:
The main setting of my game as hell is really good to develop your storyline and character.
Of course, even though the place of eternal death and separation from God should be a horrifying, undesirable prospect. There are scarier, more taboo choices that could be made from a game-design standpoint, but something about hell strikes a remarkable balance of evil-yet-palatable in our hearts and minds.
Consider the demonic multitude of foes in classics like Diablo and Doom, near-endless and unyielding, and what their digital version of hell says to us. When we examine these denizens of the underworld, we see a mostly unorganized mass of screeching monsters vying for power. Through cruel ends and violent means, they enact pain and suffering on those unfortunate enough to travel through. They are selfish people, single-minded and frenzied, unable to elevate their whole toward any noble end. (LTN, 2020)
